Keller constructed a 3-level deep (10 meter) basement on the Waterfront in Cape Town.
Construction of a new Commercial Office Block comprising of 3 floors of super basement parking with a 6 storey office block with approximately 10 000m² of office space.
The office block will be occupied predominantly by a prestigious financial banking institution while the remaining 2 floors will be let by the V&A Waterfront.
Some of the challenges faced:
- Numerous amounts of live services going through the site that were not known until we got onto site.
- Working in close proximity to a live railway line.
- Soil and rock conditions varying across the site.
- Undermining and supporting adjacent basement (Yacht Club) that was constructed in 2017.
Keller collectively worked together with the professional team to come to the best solution for all parties. Our works comprised of lateral support consisting of 190 no. Odex/Rota piles, 2837m² of gunite, 85 no. anchors and 350 no. soil nails.
